Social Scroller Privacy Policy

Social Scroller is a Chrome extension that autoscrolls your X/LinkedIn feed, finds posts matching topics you choose, and drafts a short reply for you to review. It never posts anything on your behalf — you always click the platform's own Reply/Post button yourself. This page explains what data the extension and its backend collect, why, and how it's used.

Account data

When you create an account, we store:

• Your email address, and a salted hash of your password (never the password itself).
• Your subscription plan and daily usage count, to enforce the free plan's limits.
• A referral code and, if you use one, the fact that it was redeemed — used only to credit accounts with bonus free comments.

Your AI API key

Social Scroller doesn't include or pay for its own AI access — you bring your own Anthropic or OpenAI API key, which is billed to you directly by that provider. Your key is encrypted at rest (AES-256-GCM) and decrypted only in memory, for the single request that needs it. It is never logged, never sent to any client after you save it, and never shared with anyone but the AI provider you chose.

Post content

When the extension finds a matching post, the visible post text and author name are sent to our backend, which forwards them to your chosen AI provider (using your key) to draft a reply, and returns the draft to you for review. This content is not stored after the request completes.

Preferences

Your keywords, reply tone, saved presets, and scrolling/notification settings are stored on your account so they survive a reinstall or a new device.

Billing

Paid subscriptions are processed by Stripe. We store your Stripe customer and subscription IDs to know your plan status — we never see or store your card details; those are handled entirely by Stripe.

IP addresses

We briefly record the IP addresses your account is used from, solely to detect and limit sharing a single login across many people. This is a loose check (multiple IPs in a day are fine) and is not used for tracking, advertising, or any other purpose.

What we don't do

• We don't sell or rent your data to anyone.
• We don't use your data for advertising.
• We don't read anything on X or LinkedIn beyond the post text needed to draft a reply — no private messages, no browsing history.
• We never post, comment, or reply on your behalf. Every submission is manual.
